The Apache Software Foundation has officially announced that Apache Answer has graduated from the Apache Incubator to become a Top-Level Project (TLP).
Apache Answer is a modern open-source Q&A platform designed to help users build their own knowledge bases and communities. It enables teams and communities to create, discover, and share knowledge together in a structured and efficient way.
“Apache Answer becoming a Top-Level Project marks an important milestone in our journey,” said Ning Qi, Vice President of Apache Answer. “This achievement not only reflects the community’s spirit of open-source collaboration, but also demonstrates that Apache Answer has matured as a Q&A platform solution for knowledge management and community engagement.”
Since the SegmentFault team open-sourced it in October 2022, Apache Answer has gained significant attention in the open-source community, earning over 13,000 GitHub stars and more than 1,000 forks. The project has maintained an active contributor community that has collectively resolved hundreds of issues and submitted PRs — demonstrating the project’s vitality, laying a solid foundation for the project itself, and showcasing the tremendous power of open-source collaboration.
The Strengths of Apache Answer
With Apache Answer, you can efficiently set up a Q&A platform for product and technical Q&A, customer support, user communities, and more.
A Simple, Intuitive Q&A Community
Apache Answer offers an intuitive setup for newcomers, backed by detailed documentation, so they can get a Q&A platform up and running quickly. Its design makes asking and answering questions effortless, and it’s fully responsive — users get the same great experience on mobile as on desktop.
Efficient Content Management
Administrators can use tags to organize questions and content, making content management easy and efficient. Users can also search by tag to quickly find the answers they need. By following tags, users can keep up with the content they care about and arrange it however they like.
A Rich Plugin Ecosystem
Users can extend functionality through the plugin system, customizing Apache Answer to fit their actual use cases. This flexibility makes it easier to integrate third-party systems, improving adaptability while further boosting performance.
A Fun User Incentive System
Apache Answer features a reputation and badge system, where users earn reputation by contributing quality content, accepting the best answers, and receiving upvotes. This not only helps ensure the quality of Q&A content and strengthens its credibility, but also gives users a sense of fun and accomplishment within the community.
Going forward, with continued contributions from the open-source community, Apache Answer will keep evolving — introducing more new features and adding more plugins to expand its capabilities and meet an ever-wider range of user needs.
